Strattera Review
Generic name: Atomoxetine.
Also known as: Attentrol, Attentin, Axepta, Tomoxetin.
Active ingredient: Atomoxetine Hydrochloride.
What Does Strattera Treat?
Strattera is usually assigned for patients of different age groups – children, teens and adults – who suffer from ADHD (short for attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder).
How to Take Strattera?
The dosage can depends on a patient’s weight and medical conditions’ history. That is why it is recommendable to visit a doctor before starting to consume Strattera pills on a regular basis. For children (who weight no more than 155 pounds) the average dose is 0.25 mg of Strattera per day. Adults who weight more than 155 pounds can get a dose of 0.6 mg per day only after a prescription given by a doctor.
Each dose of Strattera can be taken once per day – preferably in the morning. It is allowed to split a single dose into 2 – one of taken in the morning and the second one in the early evening).
Be careful with taking doses of Strattera to prevent withdrawal or overdose symptoms.
Side Effects and Precautions of Strattera
Certain medical issues may prevent you from taking Strattera pills. To these conditions belong the following ones: bipolar disorder (manic depression), any discharges of blood vessels, heart or heart rhythm problems, hypotension, any bladder or urination disorders, priapism, any personal or family mental illness history, tachycardia, glaucoma, liver or kidney failure, pheochromocytoma and some others. Avoid using this medication if you have an allergy to its main component - atomoxetine hydrochloride. Strattera can also badly interact with the following drugs and supplements: Albuterol based tablets, Chlorpromazine, Delavirdine, Fluoxetine (Prozac), MAOIs, Paxil, Dopamine, Epinephrine, Quinidine, Quinine, Ritonavir, Ropinirole and Terbinafine.
Peculiarities and Recommendations Concerning Strattera
Do not take Strattera if you are not sure how to use it. Avoid drinking alcoholic beverages while being on this medication. DO not use Strattera pills along with meds treating the same symptoms.
